John Macko for Recording Secretary

John Macko
I am running for the Recording Secretary of Local 807 because I believe there must be a clear and open line of communication between union members and their representatives at all times. A Recording Secretary must be able to use every form of modern communication possible to lead this union into the future. Union officials must be prepared to immediate response to questions and needs of the members. I am equipped with the skills and background to do so.

I met my wife Linda in High School and have been married for 33 years. We have three children (two married) and one Grandson.  I began my teamster career in 1976 with local 812, employed at Pepsi Cola Bottling as a company driver. Within 6 months, I became Shop Steward for the Company Drivers.
During my stewardship I sat in on numerous contract negotiations. I left Pepsi after they sold the company routes. From there I worked for The H. Verby Company for my local, Local 807.

Within one year, I was elected the Shop Steward. I was employed there until The H. Verby Company was sold. I am now presently employed with Brothers Building Supply. I have been a member of Local 807 for the past 13 years. I am presently your Sgt at Arms.

I have successfully handled grievances in house as not to go to arbritation and will work hard with my fellow officers to make 807 a better, stronger union.
